Having stayed at Suikerbossie several times over the past decade or so, I’d never tried this little camp. It did not disappoint, and I spent a highly pleasant four day stay in December. The sense of privacy one gets from the camps on this side is no less with Visarend. Attention to rustic charm is evident in how the trees and bush have been sculpted to give a surprising amount of privacy. The small boma is super, and there is plenty of place for up to three small tents. The jetty is a win. Gorgeous place to sit and let your feet dangle in the cool water. Clambering back on the jetty from the water is athletic, and needs a good pull-up, heel-hook and a mantle to accomplish! (a simple 2-rung ladder would solve that issue completely. On the last day, some workers arrived before 7am and began erecting tents for other people (presumably the guests to arrive in the afternoon) while we were still asleep, and I politely asked them not to do that until we had vacated (they obliged). That was a bit invasive, but no harm done. Great stay, and always lovely to chat to Johnie and Karin… we will definitely be back.
